A Boy Called Hope by Lara Williamson

A book review by Ernestine – 7A

A boy called hope is about a boy called Dan hope. He has many things that he wants to come true. For example, he wants his sister to go away to university and come back once a year, he wants to help Sherlock  Holmes solve his mysteries and wants to be the first eleven year old boy to land on the moon but most importantly he wants his dad to come back and love him again like he did a year ago.

I find that this book is really sad and touching. It’s also really good and I like how Lara wrote in the perspective of an eleven year old boy which means she must have gotten some kind of inspiration from another book or even another person.

I will give the book 7/10

Boys Don’t Cry by Malorie Blackman

This book is about a boy called Dante who is waiting for his A level results and has a bright future. However, one day his ex-girlfriend turns up on his doorstep with his baby that he didn’t know he had. She goes to the shops and leaves him with the baby but doesn’t come back… There is also another plot running alongside it involving his friends and his brother that really make the story interesting and unexpected. There is so much more going on Dante’s life that can dramatically change his life forever.

I like this book because it is very realistic and you can picture it really happening. Even though difficult things happen to the main character, he is still a good role model. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants something realistic and themes they can identify with.

I Give it 10/10 - Shannon, 8s

Hunter’s Moon by Paul Blum

Review by Riyad 9E

This book is about 2 detectives named John Logan and Rose Petal. These two detectives meet up after John finds a body with bite marks and realised it was from a vampire, but he didn’t realise Rose was a vampire hunter!  Rose goes on to introduce John to the ‘real world’ and John decides to work alongside Rose full time.

The reason I liked this book is because the characters were really cool and awesome. I thought the author did a very good job with this book and it blew my socks off, it’s that interesting! I also like that this book is part of a series of Vampire Inc books that are really interesting. I also really liked the quiz at the back of the book and that really tested my memory.
