Addeys Achieves Second Place in the London Financially Speaking Final

Last week, Britania (9P) won second place for Addey and Stanhope School at the Financially Speaking London Final at Bridewell Hall.  She was accompanied by our reserve student, Daniel (9S) and ten other Addeys students, who came along to offer support and encouragement.

The judges included Paul Lewis (personal finance journalist and broadcaster who presents Money Box on Radio 4), the Bursar of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and the Chief Economics Correspondent for the BBC .

The standard of competition was exceptionally high, with students speaking on a variety of topics to do with money and finance, for example “The dangers of plastic” . The range of stories and delivery of the speeches was very high, making the event a pleasure to attend.

In order to achieve second place, Britania had been selected as the best of twenty five  Year 9 students who had attended two training sessions run by the Citi Foundation.  She also beat students from the nineteen other schools that attended the competition.
