Official Launch of school library

We celebrated the launch and official opening of our brand new Library/Learning Resources Centre this week at Addeys. Our new job share librarians, Mrs Bentley and Ms Taylor, were joined by teaching staff, Year 10 student library assistants, governors, librarians from neighbouring Lewisham schools and staff from the local public library service in a celebratory afternoon tea.

The school places great emphasis on literacy, research skills, reading for pleasure and independent learning, as they are such important aspects of education. The library plays a key role in supporting this curriculum and encouraging Addeys students to develop their reading skills and interests. Addeys students and staff have already borrowed over 600 books in the last seven weeks!

Watch this space for news about after school book clubs, World Book Day and Bookweek events, and the Lewisham Book Award and book quiz. As Ms Taylor says, “We aim to ensure the LRC is at the very heart of the school”.
