Future A Level English students begin with Journey’s End

Prospective A Level English Literature students were invited to pay a visit to Greenwich Theatre on Wednesday 13 February to watch R. C. Sherriff’s ‘Journey’s End’; a moving tale of the trauma of life in the trenches.

The small group of students that attended braved the icy weather to walk to the theatre before settling down to witness the devastating impact that life in the trenches had on young men’s lives. They watched in silence as the tale of bravery and brotherhood took them on the journey to the end of the young men’s lives.

‘Journey’s End’ is a key AS Level play and the visit was a great opportunity for students to experience some of the syllabus as part of their induction into 6th Form. Those students that follow the AS Level course will be required to write a coursework essay on the drama text.
